Somewhere around august of last year (2020), I suddenly realized I needed to take action. Why? Well….read it and weep.

Downward spiral

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and all the measures our government had been enforcing, in a (futile) attempt to stop the virus, there had been a constant flow of negative energy. There was constant news about death and illness. Add to that, my incredible busy job. I worked long hours and was racing against time every day. Sometimes driving to and from customers for 5 to 6 hours a day.

My diet consisted of pizza, burgers and microwave dinners. Fast, easy to prepare meals. One day I decided to step up on a scale, and to my horror I found that I weighed 117,3kg.

I’m tall (1,94m) but that’s seriously heavy.

Online diet research

My online diet research was quite funny. If you start your search on google, you will find a lot of non-sense. People claiming they have a magic drink, or doing ab-exercises once a day will make your fat belly disappear.

Some things did make sense, for instance, stop eating sugar. This was something I could easily do and incorporate in my daily schedule. The other thing that made sense was, exercise….. Unfortunately, I had such a busy job that exercise or going to the gym was out of the question. Not to make excuses! I just didn’t have the time or the energy after a long day. Instead I decided to start walking. Two or three times a week, I started walking for 30 minutes. And I found that the combination of 0 sugar and walking was helpfull. I started to lose weight.
